We are offering 6 scholarships to individuals showing exceptional talent for our new intensive Higher National Certificate courses, coming to an impressive £21,000 worth of fees. The courses will be running from September 2017- February 2018 and there will be 2 scholarships on each of the pathways – Acting, Dance & Musical Theatre. Three of which will be awarded internally to current participants at The Garage and three will be available to the wider public.
The Garage will be the only place in the county providing these foundation courses which are aimed at sixth form and college leavers and are perfect for those wishing to progress to the country’s top performing arts schools. The courses take advantage of the professional facilities at The Garage and highly skilled tutors with industry experience. Students will benefit from being based in a dynamic arts venue providing extended performance and workshop opportunities, alongside the added value of professional practitioners working with the students as emerging artists.
For those wishing to apply for the public scholarships, there will be auditions at The Garage’s Open Day on Saturday 13th May, any scholarships not awarded on the 13th will remain open to apply for at the following Open Day on the 24th June. Those who wish to be considered should call us on 01603 283382 to book a place on the Open Day and state that they would like to book a scholarship audition. Applicants must be at least 18yrs old when the course starts.
The timetable of the day will be as follows:
9.30-9.45am Arrivals and welcome
9.45-11.15am Taster class featuring all 3 artforms
11.15-11.30am Q&A with faculty and centre staff
12.30-1.15pm Dance/Musical Theatre audition class
1.20-5.30pm Dance/Musical Theatre solo auditions
2.15-3pm Acting audition class
3.10-6.30pm Acting solo auditions
For the solo auditions, students should prepare a 3 minute performance showcasing their skills. Students will also be required to bring a completed application form (available to download here) and will have a brief interview.
Audition slots are 10 minutes in total and there are 15 audition slots for each pathway.

The HNC courses adds to The Garage’s education provision, we have offered GCSE Dance since January with a new cohort starting in January 2018.
