We’re looking forward to teaming back up with All-In Productions for My First Play: A Midsummer Night’s Nap from Saturday 20 July to Sunday 4 August.
It’s a retelling of the Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream with more of what youngsters aged 0-7 will enjoy – dancing, singing and silliness.
Writer and director Daniel Burgess has focused the action on the group of very bad actors who are rehearsing a play in the forest. The worst is Bottom, who wants to play every part.
Also in the forest are the fairy king Oberon and fairy queen Titania, who have fallen out. Oberon sends his servant Puck to cast a spell on Titania that will make her fall in love with the first person she sees.
Unfortunately for Titania the first person she sees is Bottom. He’s been turned into half donkey, half human by Puck, causing his fellow actors to run off scared.
Puck fixes everything, Oberon and Titania make up and the reunited actors put on their play for the lords and ladies of the land.
The fairies bless the humans and Puck asks the audience for their forgiveness, telling them to remember the play as though it was just a dream.
