PULSE is on the hunt for people with an unstoppable passion for dance who want to be seen on the biggest stages.
Company choreographer and tutor Victoria Taylor said: “This is more than a weekly class. We’re looking for dancers aged eight to 16 who are showing that next level technique or performance quality. We want people who want to explore their potential as performers or are committed to pushing themselves to have that extra edge when auditioning for creative college courses or professional work.”
The company focuses on street dance, musical theatre and jazz and contemporary; often fusing several in one performance. The piece they’re working for The Garage’s Dance Showcase at Epic Studios on 29 March mixes street and contemporary. A work-in-progress, it’ll also be performed at Turnstyle, at Norwich Playhouse on 16 July.
PULSE has always offered that added something special.
Victoria said: “I’ll also be exploring extra skills like the acrobatic side of dance, potentially stilt-walking – opportunities other companies don’t offer. Skills that will make them stand out. Also, as a choreographer I work with my participants, I like them to have a creative input. When applying for college, university or performing jobs, for dancers to be able to create themselves is rare.”
The company has also worked with Norwich City Council on pieces for Halloween, the Lord Mayor’s Procession, the Christmas lights switch-on and more.
Victoria added: “We want people who want to be seen. We’ve two platforms we’re performing on, possibly a third. The mix of ages and abilities gives the company more performance opportunities and a different dynamic.”
PULSE meets 5PM-6.30PM, at The Garage, Chapel Field North, Norwich, every Friday. There will be additional rehearsals when working on particular platforms or commissioned work.
Auditions for the company are being held there, 5PM-6.30PM, on 17 January and 24 January. Call the front of house team on 01603 283382 to find out more or book your audition slot.
